Tisdale : Though
Robins have been comfortably living in much of Saskatchewan for up to a month they
have stayed away from Tisdale until Sunday morning when one dropped by our house
and I was able to take his picture a few doors down. This story includes a QuickTime
rendition of a song by the "world's greatest entertainer."

- Al
Jolson
- Monday
May 3, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : Michael
Jackson, Elvis Prestley, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby all are just pale imitations
of the very first superstar Al Jolson. When records, radio, movies and television
were invented he was there front and centre and he was well aware of his position
in history as he turned to the camera in the first motion picture with sound and
ad-libed "You aint heard nothin' yet."

- Experimental
Box

This is a hacker story as the author goes about creating a computer to try things
out. With spam and worms ravaging computers today we need very badly to explore these
weapons of mass computer destruction in an effort to protect our equipment. What
will be done with this computer you wouldn't want to do with a machine you depend
upon for everyday work.

- Bush’s slippery slope: preemptive wars, violations of international law
- Friday
May 7, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Nipawin : There
is no feeling of victory in saying "we told you so" as you have read repeatedly
on this site about privatisation and the misuse of language. Torture is now
defined as "abuse" and one in every ten Americans in Iraq carrying
a gun, is a mercanary, there are more of them than British soldiers. Sadly, this
tragic and for want of a better term, "stupid" situation, must play out
as the United States has plodded its way while being warned, into a point of no return
and they have no exit plan.

- Bush’s God cannot win the
hearts and minds of the Iraqi people
- Thursday
May 13, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Nipawin : This
article is a summary of a series of articles and material that paints a very unfavourable
picture of our American neighbours. The Iraqi prison torture story is disturbing,
but even more disturbing is the death of an American in Iraq, which has the timing,
that suggests this was a sacrifice rather than execution, as it provides Americans
with justification for their war crimes.

by : Kevin McIntyre
Carrot River :
Things don't add up, the torture of prisoners in Iraq, the attempted cover up of

- GPS surveying
- Friday
May 14, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : New technology often becomes standard operating
methods simply because all of what it replaces can no longer compete with the accuracy
and speed of the invention. In this case a system for guiding Intercontinetal Balistic
Missiles works just as well directing a sprayer in a field or discovering where the
corner is of a town lot.

- Air Canada: Waiting at the brink
- Wednesday
May 19, 2004
by : David Orchard
Borden : It appears
at times the we forget our historical successes and wander off into oblivious following
trendy ideological theories. Canada was built by public and private cooperation,
Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, Trans Canada Airlines each filled a need in
a very big country. The country is just as big now as it ever was and the need to
pull it together greater than ever.

wrong click and a nasty programme will reset your connection number from the one
you have to an obscure island of the West coast of Africa.

- Change
- Tuesday
May 25, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Nipawin : This is a simple concept but one that needs to be thoroughly examined.
Just like people who want to purchase an electric drill really don't want a drill,
but want holes. So it is that once we get a handle on what the world is about we
are in a better position to make changes.

- Canadian
National Railroad - Saskatchewan
- Thursday
May 27, 2004
by : R. W. Shire
Regina : It has been in less than twenty years that Saskatchewan's railroad system
was destroyed. It is important to understand that railroads are under the juridiction
of the Federal department of transportation and their destruction and abandonment
was essentially a transfer of expense to the province as trucks run on highways which
are a provincial responsibility.

- Firewalls
- Monday
May 31, 2004
by : Ron Thornton
Edmonton : Deputy
Prime Minister Anne McLellan pointed out the obvious that Conservative leader Stephen
Harper was an avowed Alberta Separatist. Ron Thornton makes the point that indeed
all Harper is advocating what Ontario and Quebec already have and that is their own
brand of self serving separatism and it only seems fair that Alberta be like them.
