Messages from France, sixty years after "D" Day

Mondeville, France : When Canadian armed forces landed on Juno and Sword beach in Normandy in 1944 they made history, many of them died but through their efforts the German occupation forces was hurled back into the low countries. The people of France remember that sacrifice and Bernard de Maussion has sent us eleven local newspaper clippings telling of "D" Day celebrations last month.

Edmonton : Many of the age old solutions that have been put forward to produce some equity and fairness in the way Canada is governed include such things as free votes in parliament and fixed election dates. Mr. Thornton points out that an elected land representative Senate would do the trick.

Borden : It didn't work, the PC party was destroyed so that the right could be united and Canadians said "no". The Liberals handed the election to the opposition on a platter but because of the ideological hardline right Harper and his gang did no better than in the past.

New Golden Age Centre Parking Lot

Tisdale : With only about fifteen feet poured the ashphalt plant broke down and it took an extra day to get the new west side parking lot completed for the Golden Age Centre.

Arborfield : It seems that we are so often inclined to describe an incident as an accident when it just may be that a sequence of circumstances and conditions are bound to produce a negative result. In this story our writer does not have first hand infromation on this specific event but as a former farm boy and shareholder in a local dehydration plant his is familiar with the equipment and procedures that cost a young man his life.

Edmonton : The 2004 election results came as no surprise to Ron Thornton as he had predicted this sort of results five years earlier. The math just doesn't work with the problem because it is not a mathematical problem. There are basic differences between the former Progressive Conservatives and the Reformers who more recently called themselves Canadian Alliance.

Tisdale : The computer has been humming away under the hood of your car since 1978, many cars are fitted with satellite navigation systems and now its time for agriculture to move into the electronic age. No need for flagmen or markers, the pilot just checks his heads up display.
