Living Spaces page 3---------------------------------------

The image above gives you the view as the yard looks from the lawn that flanks the West side of the house and is in turn surrounded with trees and underbrush. Two limestone steps lead the visitor up to the patio area.

A side table, several park benches, five chairs or so and this outdoor heater are all part of this inviting environment.

But without a doubt the centre of attraction is the fountain and pond arrangement with is busy fish, lily pads, flowers and friendly frogs.

These pictures in sequence lead you from the pond to the broke, under the bridge to the fountain. With a wide range of rocks and washed gravel this is the kind of yard feature that takes meticulous planning and a lot of skill both to find the components but also to assemble. Not only must it work, the water going where you want it staying where you want it but it must also blend into the whole yard and seem to be part of all that surround the system. This is superior example of fountain, stream and pond.

Once again the camera's low angle shows off the limestone but make the bridge look much larger than it is. The problem with a bridge in your yard is that it has to balance with the size of your stream and in this case the plan is perfect.

The rock collection that have been shaped into the fountain have really been carefully selected and are all obtained from the Tisdale area.

Below is one of the several sundials to be found in this yard adding romance and suggestion

of the rustic theme. But everywhere you look in this yard you come across elements that of themselves are works of art. This simple cream can with some twigs and lights is attractive in daylight but even more so as it reflects the light from the lights in the dark.

We will come back to this yard and get you some night time images and next spring we will take you on a guided tour of the house which is in some aspects a complete and authentic living environment that like the yard samples the past while living the present.
