UCW General Report

Happy New Year! Where has the year gone? Here are some of our highlights from St. Paul’s UCW.
  • We started the year out with a membership of 24 ladies but on May 20th/14 we lost one of our long time UCW member Marion Fargey from the Evening Unit #7. Then coming up Feb. 15/15 we’ll be saying good-bye to Alice Newman (UCW Unit #9) and Winston as they are moving to Lethbridge – we are sad to see them go but we wish them well.
  • We’ve been quite active with serving lunches for 12 funerals, serving Birthday Tea @ Sasko Park Lodge and Newmarket Place – Note: our last Birthday Tea @ Sasko Park Lodge was on Jan. 21/15 as residents will all be moving to Newmarket Place and Sasko will be closed.
  • April 2/14 - We served soup and sandwiches at Lenten Services at the Golden Age Centre.
  • May 10/14 – For the Love Tisdale Event we provided muffins, juice and bottled water, also 6 new T-Shirts from our choir & Evening UCW Unit – we got to see “Heaven is for Real” at the theatre – the Love Tisdale Event was put on by the Tisdale Ministerial.
  • May 24/14 & Dec. 6/14 - We held our usual Spring & Christmas Teas. We also held our usual Spring and Fall Rummage Sales.
  • Oct. 5/14- UCW provided tea, coffee and dainties for the Covenanting Service for Rev. Sharon Ferguson-Hood, our new Interim Minister
  • Oct. 24/14 - UCW provided meals for the Tamarack Presbytery Mtg. held here. So we definitely called on other women and men from our congregation to help out. Thanks for your continued support. Thanks to all UCW members who serve on Committees on General UCW and the two units. Many thanks to Betty Laxdal for the many years that you served as Tea Convenor – Gloria Arneson has taken that job over now and did a wonderful job on the Christmas Tea.
  • We’ve attended and participated in the World Day of Prayer service held @ the Lutheran Church, Sasko Park Lodge and Newmarket Place Mar. 7/14.
  • May 3/14 saw three of our UCW Ladies attend the Tamarack Presbyterial “Spring Event” meeting @ Birch Hills Church.
  • Quite a few of our UCW ladies visit shut-ins or phone them and some take church bulletins to our members @ Sasko Park, Newmarket Place, Cedar Villa and McKay Tower.
  • Study Guides based on our Purpose, Mission and Vision Statements for UCW will be studied in 2015.
  • Some of our ladies & UCW group have sponsored bulletin covers for our church.
  • Our donations mainly go to our church

For 2015 we are giving $8,500. to St. Paul’s & to M&S fund $1,500. Other donations go to Camp Tapawingo, St. Andrew’s College and Bursary, TACACL (collective kitchen), Northeast Early Childhood Development, Tisdale Renal Dialysis and Northeast Outreach Support & Services. We’ve also purchased and got a contractor to install new carpet on the stairs to the lower hall for St. Paul’s United Church.

God’s Blessing for each and everyone for the coming year.
