Is it time to say goodbye to the winter of 2010 - 2011?
FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, March 16, 2011
It really seems like it has been a very long winter, perhaps every winter seems to long and every Canadian summer to short but this one especially seemed to be winter, winter and more winter.
We have some family chores to take care of in Regina so we dashed down last week after posting Ensign then came back to Tisdale Saturday, only to make the trip back to the provincial capital on Monday night.
That mini storm of last Friday certainly left a lot of fresh snow in its wake with more than five inches of new snow in our back yard and in downtown Tisdale they did not clear the street but put a windrow down the middle of the two downtown blocks. We also noticed on Saturday night the ditches between Melfort and Tisdale were a little taller then they had been a few days earlier.
I caught some images of the way things looked in Tisdale both last week and this and you will see in the seventeen pictures with this story that the snow in the Tisdale yards is deep. One house still has it's Christmas snowmen decorations on their lawn and they are now are partly buried. The snow piles from clean up of parking lots seem to be mountainous with the one beside the Subway dwarfing the building.
On Monday night my grand daughter in Regina had her dance class cancelled because of flooding at the dance studio and on the North side of the city we saw full ditches of water. With the temperature staying at or slightly above freezing in Regina the snow is settling quickly. But north of Watson it is winter as usual.
