Icy wind from the North

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, January 2, 2004

Winter belongs in the wintertime just as warm spring and fall days are out of place in late December. That is why today seemed, even though it was cold and the North wind definitely had an attitude, that today was essentially a nice day.

We thought it best to begin the new year with some scene that told you about here and so we drove a mile, perhaps two south of town and took these pictures from a place that seems to represent the kind of countryside this is and certainly has the spirit of Saskatchewan on every tough little tree and the whispy cirrus clouds over head.

It was mid day when these pictures were taken and we did QuickTime VR panorama of the scene. As Timothy Shire (II) was taking these pictures I too was doing the same scene with a different camera on a tripod and if you look close you will see me hard at work snapping away. (to see this image you need to have QuickTime installed in your computer, if the image does not appear click here and you can easily download the efficient media player. To navigate the scene use your mouse to move the scene left and right, "control" will zoom out and "shift" will zoom in.)

Each day the length of the day grows just a bit longer as we moves steadily toward spring. First we must endure and enjoy what January and February have to offer then lie low as the storms of March fade into the joy of April. But until then let us show no fear of the North wind it will only encourage it.
