Lumpy country

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, December 20, 2002

The storm that blew through here yesterday and continues to throw snow around in the Nipawin area today left a bit of a mess behind it as only the back alleys and main street are actually cleared.

Businesses have been busy cleaning up their parking lots but near noon today many of the downtown businesses had been unable to get their sidewalks cleared.

I found that just walking

down the streets was a chore as in some areas the snow was deep and that damp squishy kind. Woe to the driver who pulls off to the side in some areas because that can result in some chugging around to get moving again.

It is interesting to notice as I looked back at stories on this date and discovered that this sort of storm often seems to come at with in a day or two of last year's date.

If you notice on the front page of Ensign on the right hand column there is a listing for stories of this date in years past.

You will find some surprising recurrances and similarities not only in the weather but other things that happen within days of each other each year.

Traffic at noon downtown today was really heavy backed up for two blocks

each way from the four way stop.

Yesterday we
showed you a picture of a load of roofing materials, in this picture taken today you can see those materials now neatly piled atop the post office.

On several side street around downtown the grader has cleared the streets and left a windrow down the centre. Everyone now wants to see snow, snow and more snow.
