FTLComm - Tisdale - May 24, 1999 | |
Its been forty-five years since this Kamloops resident has been back to Tisdale as
he explained to me on Sunday afternoon in the Tisdale Tourist information centre.
He was arranging for a campsite at the Tisdale Camp grounds for his fifth-wheel
trailer. |

Dawn told me that business has been fairly brisk since the booth opened this weekend
and she expects a similar season to last year where a lot of the visitors were Saskatchewan
people touring the province. Dawn who is a veteran (see
last year's article) pointed out that each year a family from Iowa spend a night
at the Tisdale camp grounds as part of their annual vacation. The greatly increased industrial traffic at the intersection of # 3 and #35 highway makes this one of the busiest places in the province and the heavy traffic conditions are a concern for people who want to saunter over to the miniature golf course and have to get through that busy intersection. Dawn and one other worker will host the tourist booth this summer and while I was there there were five sites in the camp ground occupied with our Kamloops visitor taking a sixth and a group of four showed up for a game of miniature golf. Tourism is an important part of life in this part of Saskatchewan with Nipawin, Melfort and Tisdale each having very busy tourist visitor booths |
