FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, February 6, 2004 | ||||||
A perfect day to work out representatives to go to NESAC curling play-offs as both the senior and junior curling play-offs for the Tisdale School Division took place all day today. Teams from Arborfield, Zenon Park, Bjorkdale and Tisdale we on the ice this morning when I dropped by and there were some great games in progress. The junior curlers took up three sheets while I was there and on the first two sheets it was the four mixed teams engaged in exciting games. There were lots of spectators on hand offering encouragement and moral support. |

Though Saskatchewan curlers often wonder if their game will be passed on generation after generation the main reason for its recent decline on the prairies has been the simple reduction in population. Curling is actually becoming a very popular game among Canada's young urban dwellers as the game, like golf, has great potential for socialising and experiencing the simple fun that curling has always provided to all of us who have ever played the game. Though these pictures do not show the mood this morning it was obvious that they were playing and enjoying the sport and not letting the competitive spirit dominate their Friday afternoon together. Curlers, you have nothing to worry about. |
