Parkland Photography Club - January , 2002 |
Tisdale - January 31, 2002 - by: Gerald Crawford |
January 29th, 2002: Ten members braved the bitter cold to come to the January meeting of Parkland Photography Club. Darlene brought us up to speed on upcoming events and competitions; she needs to have entries no later than the February 26th meeting. The Doghide River Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 23rd and 24th. The Club will be expected to have their usual display, and to take pictures of the various events. Our March meeting is not until March 26th, so members will have to indicate the times they are willing to participate at the February meeting. Darlene and Tibby took the Club's slide show to four seniors' residences in January, and advise that the show was very well received. Keep it in mind, members it is available to any member to put on a slide show, and we now have a brand new projector to go with it. |
Alie Neish showed us the Advantage Credit Union (Watson-Naicam-Melfort) calendar that features her photo of a field of canola on the January page. Very nice, Alie! There were eight entries to the Theme Shoot. The Theme was "Happy", and Mary Wright won first (above)with her photo of a young girl trying to guess what is in a gift-wrapped parcel. |
Runners-up were Tibby Frazer's photo of a happy couple, Jenny Fritshaw's photo of a little boy under the Christmas tree giving the thumbs up sign, and Glen Neish's photo of an ecstatic cat having its belly tickled. After pigging out on Mary's delicious cakes, we projected the Club Slide Show, which Tibby and Darlene had shown at Seniors' residences. Darlene says people aren't interested in themes; mainly, they want a variety, and they like it flexible so that they can discuss a photo if they wish. |
