September 27th 2005: Seven members came to the September
meeting of Parkland Photography Club. Combining comes first! Welcome to new
member Debbie Furber! Darlene brought us up to date on correspondence and business matters. The Kin Hall is no longer available to us at last year’s rent so we have to consider a new place for our meetings. Sandra of Doghide Gallery has offered her premises to us for our meetings so our next meeting will be at the Doghide Gallery. Darlene complimented members for their good showing of framed prints for Homecoming. These had been on display at Doghide Gallery, and the Club’s display stand is also permanently displayed there. The report on the PRPA Nordegg outing last June will be postponed until next meeting, when there will be more members to hear it. Also postponed to next meeting is the viewing of members’ summer photos - up to six per member. These were planned for the September meeting but we ran short of time. Theme for this meeting was “Table Ready Food” and there were only two entries. First went to Darlene for her photo of an ice cream-covered dessert; second to Tibby for her photo of a small child plowing into an ear of corn. There was no Gleneath Foto Fun Contest this year; instead the top slides from the previous few years were circulated to participating clubs for viewing. This year, there were 57 of them that we viewed and enjoyed. Also viewed were the winning slides in the various PRPA slide competitions. Three years ago, PRPA member Stan Hingston undertook to make a CD in which the background was a poem written by the late Florence Scholer entitled “I Am Saskatchewan”. He solicited entries from PRPA members that fit the many stanzas of the poem to play as a slide show. A good number of them came from our own Darlene McCullough. Darlene has a supply of these CDs and will sell them to anyone interested. The October meeting will be on October 25th, 7 PM at the Doghide Gallery in the Wermac Mall, Tisdale. Theme for the meeting will be “Simplicity”. That should be a real easy one, so get snapping! . |
