In a country as young as Canada a family that can place themselves on a piece of land for a full century is a major accomplishment and one that needs to be recognised. Long before disposable diapers, TV, cell phones and GPS field assistance, indeed a whole lot has happened during that century. There was however, floods, drought, fire and little medical services. Ultimately a people can define where they are going by establishing with certainy where they have been and by so doing know in their hearts who and what they are. Saskatchewan does that to its people and we need more cairns like this one to remind us of both our past and our future. |
