Tisdale’s Northern Steel continues to churn out the products as tanks and specialty products emerge from the factory every day. As I was driving by their site I spotted this worker sandblasting a tank that will be refinished, the gray colour is the freshly sandblasted colour of steel, but what caught my eye was the worker leaning on the pressure from his sandblast nozzle. The unit is dispensing sand with a pressure of 150 pounds per square inch so that the momentum of the moving sand and the volume of air actually is pushing him backward with considerable force. In a similar picture on the next page the worker's upper body is clearly resting on the sand air mixture blasting out in front of him.
