Cameron Hamilton explained that the project involved the movement of a lot of material
to create the four track siding being created to house the trackage that be part
of the terminal's rail facility. The flat countryside West of Valparaiso needed
to be raised to build up the track bed and as you can see in the bottom picture is
the large borrow pit that was created to provide the fill for the siding. The diagram
below illustrates the layout of the new terminal. South of the office building will
be facilities to handle fertilizers and other agricultural products. The earthwork
for these structures is now completed. |
