---Thick Air

FTLComm - Tisdale - October 12, 2000
This morning by 0300 the temperature fell to the dew point and the suspended water vapour became visible as fog. When we got up this morning it is still here soaking up the light and limiting surface visibility to less than a football field in distance.

But fog will not dampen the spirits of Tisdale's curling community with only two weeks until the curling season begins some modifications are underway. The wood separators between sheets is being replaced with plastic 4 x 4 bumpers. Painting and sprucing up for the new season is well underway and the ice will go in next week.

Tisdale has established itself as one of Saskatchewan's most important centres with provincial championships
being the routine each year
and some of the most
competive senior curling in the province.

Before the harsh winds of winter show up the town office is getting its roof reshingled. Ashphate shingles are an outstanding value as they handle rain, hail and snow but the ravages of the sun's radiation break down the hydrocarbons very gradually and without fail they must be replaced if the roof is to continue to do its job.

Many senior citizens in
Tisdale and other communities have discovered the safety and good sense it makes to use these wheelled strollers when they go shopping, out for a walk or head down to the post office. I just makes so much more sense to push rather than carry something and with these rigs there is the added feature of providing some stability to unstable ground surfaces and aging legs. This picture was snapped yesterday afternoon near the United Church.
