We walked over to the lake shore late Sunday afternoon as the weekend activities were wrapping up and we saw log sawing, wood carrying, a great snowshoe race, log chopping and nail pounding all within about twenty minutes. There was good spirits and mud. |

On the right is a video of the things we saw including the remarkable snowshoe race win by grade nine Churchill Community School teacher Christine Ravenis. As we came back from the festival we encountered (above) the Battleford Stars who had just arrived for the second game in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's semi-finals with the LaRonge Ice Wolves. LaRonge has just had a difficult week with the owner of a motel being held up and robbed, then tied up and left in a closet, then on Friday morning there was a hold up at the Credit Union. The community has a very large population and a level of unemployment that is positively staggering. |
