Passing the Bell
On Monday, June 15, the Tisdale Chapter of the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan met for lunch at Mr Ribs in Melfort. Following the meal, a short business meeting was held where the President, Bob Donnan passed the bell to Maureen Donald who now takes over as President.
Other members elected to the executive include Vice-President Deanna Gruending and Secretary-Treasurer Darlene McCullough.
The members then enjoyed a tour of the Melfort Museum.
The group of workers and volunteers there have created an early village. There's a fully furnished house, a church, a school, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a grist mill, a barber shop, a fire station, a collection of vehicles including a snow plane, a printing press, a doctor's office, a dentist's office, and a collection of old farm equipment.
Lots of memories were brought back with comments such as ,"I remember that," and "My mother/grandmother had one of those".
This draws the activities of the chapter to a close for this year.
The next meeting will be the "To Hell with the Bell" breakfast gathering at the Golf Course Lounge on the first day of classes in the fall.
