West Nile Fear Ver |

FTLComm - Winnipeg - Sunday, July 6, 2003 | ||||||
The news yesterday and today here in Winnipeg has been filled with the positive tests indicating the presence of West Nile Fever in a substantially widely spread number of birds in and around the Winnipeg area. There is no question that everyone must take every reasonable precaution simply to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. Short pants, and short sleeves are going to have to be worn inside and we are going to all have to get used to bug repellent. In our case we have opted for our "screen tent" which allows us the luxury of camping but not being exposed to the discomforts of bugs. Of our camping gear this year, the "screen tent" is the star and has proven itself effective in three provincial parks although the insect infestations at Echo and Crooked Lake Provincial were really mild the conditions at Duck Mountain Provincial (Madge Lake) were really hostile. In all cases the "screen tent" let us camp in comfort. |
