Seniors Benefit proposal adds credibility to Copps' contention |

The indisputable fact that then Finance Minister Martin's proposal that | ||||||||
"The new Seniors Benefit will replace the Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) benefits, starting in 2001." | ||||||||
was deep-sixed AFTER much publicity adds credibility to Copps' contention he was considering altering other social security programmes. | ||||||||
At least to some of us who could not have afforded to retire had his plan been implemented. | ||||||||
