The border
White Rock, British columbia - Wednesday, February 16, 2011 by: Brian D. Marlatt
A casual poll may suggest Canadians favour an integrated border, but is it an election issue?
Absolutely.
The assimilation of Canada by stealth and by regulatory transfers is an issue that should concern all Canadians. It is only by being engaged that we can influence events and conditions positively. It is our country to build and celebrate by embracing it and all of its people; it is our country, also, to give away through neglect of our civic responsibilities and through apathy.
Tories have stood-up for Canada against continentalism, Manifest Destiny, and toadyism to the American Republic and bullying since 1776, but not so the Harper neoconservatives who are not Tory at all. Time to stand-up for Canada.
The choice is ours: "All that is required for evil to prevail, is for men of good will to do nothing."
