Heralded by some as one of the most important devepments for the University of Saskatchewan and the City of Saskatoon the new Synchrotron is well under construction. These pictures taken Saturday illustrate the size of the building that is being developed to house this experimental machine used to create a very bright high energy source light to be used to bombard materials to discover properities of the substance. Those who have supported the project point out the remarkable amount of addition business and traffic it will attract to the city and the university. What has been surprising to many is that the University of Saskatchewan community seems to value so little the scientific breakthroughs that having such a device might afford. Apparently the value of profit from the light is more in business than in research. |
