Back in March of 2000 I had the opportunity to see this dynamic self help project in operation. Designed to develop good nutrition and inexpensive food preparation techniques the group met then in the Salvation Army Church. But even then the interest in the project was high with two groups meeting each week. For the past two years they have been meeting in the United Church basement kitchen which is larger |

and last night at 5:30 it was time for their annual Christmas dinner and what a feast. Turkey and all the trimmings with an array of fancy cookies and pastry for dessert. Of a hundred people were on hand to share the wonderful meal together and enjoy the fellowship of each other's company. this remarkable ensemble consists of three boys and three girls. The folks at the supper responded heartily to the excellent performance rewarding the family with applause for the family contributed their presentation to the evening as their part in making this evening part of the true Christmas spirit. |
