"May your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmases by white"

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, December 24, 2004
It is not surprising that Irving Berlin's 1947 song "White Christmas" is one of the most popular songs of all time. Written originally for a movie "Holiday Inn" and recorded by Bing Crosby the song is a sound icon of the holiday that marks the end of each year.

The fact that Berlin was Jewish seems completely unimportant because the spirit of Christmas seems to transcend ethnic and religious barriers. I think its got something to do with the "peace on earth and good will toward men" aspect of what Christmas means to Christians and non-Christians alike.

Christmas for me and for you has its own personal meaning but no matter how the

shop keepers of the world attempt to exploit our affection for each other and for making Christmas so special to family and friends Christmas can handle the demeaning exploitation. What we have to do is make sure that we do not lose sight of the meaning it has for us personally and as a family.

Merry Christmas
