For those who like to go out to lunch in Tisdale there are a wide range of choices but most lunch people end up at Gus' Greek Ribs. I like to have lunch there on Friday, but usually wait until 2:00 so as to miss the crowd. This afternoon, the picture below was taken at 2:00 and there were still people lined up waiting to be seated for lunch.
The reason for this being the lunch goer's first choice, are the daily specials. Every day a steak sandwich and Dry Ribs with a Caesar are the first two choices, but the $6.99 daily special is different each day and includes soup and is accompanied by a salad, then there is a soup and sandwich deal for $5.50. To make your lunch a success, the place has a large competent staff, so that even if you have to wait a few minutes for a table, that is the only waiting involved.
Coffee and soup arrive immediately and by the time you have finished the soup, your meal is being delivered to your table.
For some years, this restaurant has been part of a franchise, Mr. Ribs but Gus decided it was time to go it on his own, as his restaurant has its loyal customers and needs no boost from being part of a franchise, so two weeks ago it became Gus' Greek Ribs.
I wanted to do a story on the name change so you aren't confused, because a new business will be opening soon in the Tisdale Mall in the former My Way restaurant under the name of the franchise, Mr. Ribs. So today, when I asked for Gus to get a picture of him for this story, I discovered our man is on vacation in, you guessed it, Greece and won't be back until next week.
But without Gus the place is able to run along very nicely, as the kitchen and serving staff, have the routine of putting out great meals each and every day.
By the way, I just mentioned lunch, but there is an equally excellent evening menu for dinner, with daily specials.
