Tisdale Mall comes of age |
||||||
FTLComm - Tisdale - Saturday, November 16, 2002 | ||||||
It was Ernie the fiddler who pointed out to me that the Tisdale Mall was no longer a minor as it has reached the age of majority. Ernie was just one of the many events taking place in Tisdale's Mall today as it celebrated its eighteenth birthday. There were specials in the stores and besides Ernie's fiddle music made on his tuned up plunger there were booths with food, home crafts and other merchandise. From 1:00 until 3:00 there was coffee and two huge cakes for customers to join in the celebration. |

Tenny and Brett Keating were on hand with a great display of tack for sale. Tenny's love of horses and horse breeding has lead to developed Kearose Trader with its online shop and a forum for horse trading. (873-2821) |

Mittens, angel food cakes and Lefsa at this booth. Sangsters had just recently doubled the size of their establishment in the Tisdale Mall and the space has really allowed this shop to expand its well stocked shelves. The Tisdale Mall continues to thrive and though other businesses have developed like Little Willies the main feature of any shopping mall is still the anchors and in this case Extra Foods on one end and Zellers on |

the other. Though it doesn't seem that long Mark has been manager of the Zellers end of the Mall for one third of its life. He came as the store was converted to Best Value then oversaw its return to Zellers Select. He explained to me that they are watching as the story's volume of sales just moves upward steadily returning to the level when the store was converted over to Best Value. The decision to convert the store to a discount small market store just did not meet the needs of the shoppers who make Tisdale their destination for shopping and it was a great decision to restore the store to its proper place as a main stream mass market merchant. People from all over this part of the province have found that the stock and the friendly staff at Zellers in Tisdale are just what they needed and save themselves valuable time from making the long trip into Saskatoon or Prince Albert, for they indeed are the main competitors to this outstanding local retail outlet. |

Extra Foods goes head to head with the Beeland Co-op in a positive competitive environment but both stores have to face the competition from the huge volume of the outlets in the cities. It is a tough battle in a market place where the margins are so thin but Tisdale's two major food outlets are doing an outstanding job of filling the needs of their market place. Happy birthday Tisdale Mall the whole town salutes you. |
