SWP6 on the way down

FTLComm - Tisdale - Sunday, November 10, 2002 |
Not only on the prairies is the primary concern of the Saskatchewan
Wheat Pool to knock down its property but back in January of 2000 they took down
their terminal Elevator #6 in Thunder Bay. "Bill" a friend of Edwin Wallace
who works with the Canadian Grain Commission works in Toronto but was on hand for
the destruction of this terminal. The remarkable images above were taken by "Bill"
and passed on to us here at Ensign as he thought you might like to see them. Below
are Bill's comments: |
Here are some photos taken in Thunder Bay regarding the demolition of Saskatchewan
Wheat Pool Terminal Elevator #6.
You will perhaps notice in the background, a long penninsula on the left hand side.
This is known as the 'Sleeping Giant' and it world famous. Unfortunately, the entire
penninsula is not in these pictures. It is twenty miles by water from Thunder Bay
to this giant.
These pictures only demonstrate part of the harbour of Thunder Bay. You should also
know, that the water in the bay can reach depths of 600 feet
The elevator was demolished in January of 2000.
