RM of Tisdale Holds Official Opening of New Service Facility

For many years the RM of Tisdale has had a considerable need for a maintenance and storage shop for their equipment that was adequate and provided the local rural government with a good base of operation. Yesterday Reeve Jack Mann (above) explained how the shop had been a long term goal and he

was so pleased to have been part of the team that was able to undertake this construction project. The site was once a drive-in theatre so it was a small parcel of land ideally located for such a facility. Last summer the RM who had used the site as a fill storage dump installed drainage and then built the fine building on the site.

It was not without some misadventure as there were some minor mishaps during construction but the building is a metal covered wood frame building with efficient radiant heating and ample space for machine storage and work area for maintenance on the equipment. The overhead mobile crane was an excellent idea for a building of this type. (right)

There was a good crowd on hand for Reeve Mann to talk about the project for the RM then it was time for the ceremonial ribbon cutting. We often fail to recognise how important events of this type are, but it is by marking an occasion with a ceremony of some kind that we tell ourselves that progress is being made that an

achievement has been accomplished. One of the most important aspects of a ceremony is validating it, having witnesses to be there and acknowledge the event. In this case the news paper's photographer missed the moment and the good natured folks did it again just to make sure she got the picture that would live on proclaiming what had happened. The also gave the Reeve and municipal council an opportunity to all be in the scene to commemorate the opening of the facility.

For everyone it was a time for the good natured socialisation that is so much a part of what it is about living in rural Saskatchewan. The Town Council, local business, contractors and the public at large all had a chance to meet one another tell a story or two over coffee and a donut.
